Before We Arrive

How To Prepare For Your Upcoming Garage Door Service

  • Clear The Floor Under And Behind The Door
  • Move Vehicles Off The Driveway
  • Clear A Wet Or Mossy Approach
  • Secure Pets Before We Arrive

Please read each topic below before your appointment. A few minutes of preparation saves time on the job, keeps everyone safe while springs and cables are under tension, and lets the technician start work as soon as the van is parked. If anything is unclear, call us on (206) 647-7202 and we will talk it through.

Common Questions

Preparing For Your Garage Door Service

If your question is not answered here, call us. We answer around the clock and will tell you honestly whether a visit is needed before you book one.

Not sure what the noise means?

Describe the sound, the sticking point or the damage and we will tell you what it usually is and what it usually costs to put right.

For most residential repairs you do not have to be there, as long as we can reach the garage and you are contactable by phone. We will confirm an arrival window when you book and keep you updated through the day, and the technician will call you before setting off. If a decision is needed on a part that was not obvious from the original description, we will call you with the finding and the price before anything is fitted, so you are never presented with a bill for work you did not approve.

If you cannot be there, arrange access in advance: leave the side door or pedestrian gate unlocked, share any gate or alarm code, and make sure the driveway is clear so the van can park close to the opening. Tell us where the garage remote is kept if we need it to test the opener, and where the power switch for the operator is if it is not obvious. When you get home you will find the written summary of what was checked, adjusted and replaced.

Before We Arrive

A garage door and its hardware take up the full width of the opening and reach back into the room, so the preparation that matters most is floor space and access. In the wet months the approach matters too: a mossy or leaf-covered driveway is slippery to work on and holds water against the bottom seal, so clearing it before we arrive helps both the repair and your floor. Work through the list on the right before the appointment and the technician can get straight to the fault.

Safety comes first on any door with springs or cables under load. Keep pets and children inside and away from the garage while we work, never stand underneath a door that is being repaired or tested, and leave the springs, cables and drums to the technician.

Your Pre-Visit Checklist

  • Clear the garage floor directly under the door and to either side of it
  • Move vehicles out of the driveway and away from the garage opening
  • Clear moss, fir needles and wet leaves off the driveway, apron and alley where the van will park
  • Sweep standing water away from the doorway where the driveway drains back toward the garage
  • Unlock any side door, gate or pedestrian access we will need
  • Secure pets indoors and keep children clear of the work area
  • Take down anything leaning against the tracks or the garage walls
  • Note any new noises, sticking points or slow travel to tell the technician, and have your remotes, gate code and the history of earlier repairs ready

Never Operate A Door With A Broken Spring Or One Off Its Track

A torsion spring stores enough energy to cause serious injury, and a door that has come off its track can fall without warning. If a spring has snapped, a cable has broken or the door has left its track, stop using the opener and stop lifting it by hand. Do not pull the red manual release cord to disconnect the operator either: on a door with a broken spring, releasing the opener removes the only thing holding the door up, and it can come down hard.

Keep everyone clear of the opening, park vehicles away from underneath it, and call us on (206) 647-7202. We run 24/7 emergency dispatch, and if the door is stuck open and the property is not secure, or a car is trapped inside, tell us when you call and we will prioritise the visit. Never adjust torsion springs, cables or drums yourself: any repair involving those parts is work for a technician with the correct winding bars, gauges and a spring matched to the weight of your door.

Questions Before Your Visit?

Call (206) 647-7202 and describe what the door is doing. We can usually tell you whether it is safe to use in the meantime, roughly what the repair involves, and when we can be with you. Dispatch is staffed around the clock, including weekends and public holidays.

How It Works

Working With Us Is Easy As 1-2-3

  1. Step 01

    Get A Fast Quote

Call or send the short online form. Tell us the door type, whether it is attached or detached, and what it is doing wrong, and we will quote it honestly with no obligation.

  2. Step 02

    Set A Schedule

Choose a date and time that suits you. Emergency calls are dispatched 24/7, and planned work is booked around your week rather than ours.

  3. Step 03

    Sit-back & Relax

The technician arrives with the parts on the truck, confirms the diagnosis with you, completes the repair, cycles the door and walks you through the safety reverse test.
